Games Federation
(CGF)
The CGF, the apex body of the Commonwealth Games movement, owns the
Commonwealth Games. The CGF, through the mechanism of its constitution,
regulations, code of conduct, HCC, Commonwealth Games Manuals & CGFKMP,
facilitates the preparation and conduct of the Games while ensuring its mission to
maintain the integrity of the Commonwealth Games product.
The CGF also provides the critical interface with IFs and CGAs and ensures their
full support and co-operation in making the Games a success. The CGF comprises
the following:
- President
- Executive Board
- London based Secretariat headed by the CEO
Indian Olympic
Association (IOA)
IOA is CGA of India and is responsible for selecting Delhi as the bidding host city
for the Games. Entrusted by the CGF with the responsibility of organising the
Games in Delhi, India, IOA has delegated this responsibility to the Organising
Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi (OC). IOA has a critical role in
finalisation of the Joint Marketing Programme Agreement (JMPA) for the Games.
As an apex national body responsible for selecting the team to represent India at
the international mega-sporting events such as Olympics, Commonwealth and
Asian Games, IOA is committed, in collaboration with NSFs, GOI, to prepare the
best possible team for the 2010 Games. The IOA comprises the following:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary General
- Executive Council comprising representation from National Sports Federations,
State Olympic Associations
- Other advisory roles
Organising Committee
(OC)
The OC, a non-profit autonomous body setup for organising the Commonwealth
Games 2010 in Delhi, is registered by IOA as a Society under the Societies
Registration Act, 1860. OC comprises the following:
- Chairman (Chief Executive)
- OC Executive Board
- OC Executive Management
- Infrastructure Co-ordination Committee
- OC Sub-committees
- OC Secretariat
The OC has adopted a management philosophy of close interaction and
collaboration with its partners, building up a committed team of capable
individuals and adopting the best set of practices to deliver memorable Games.
Government of India
(GoI)
The GoI is the sovereign Central Government of the host country which has been
supportive of the Games right from the bid stage. GoI is keen to position India as a
major sporting destination as well as to maintain its image of a friendly, business
and tourist destination. GoI is committed to ensure adequate provision of funds
for the conduct of the Games to OC as well as in the development of the
infrastructure required for the conduct of the Games to various agencies. The GoI
includes :
- Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports - signatory to the HCC
- Other GoI Ministries/Departments/Agencies
Government of NCT
of Delhi (GNCTD)
The GNCTD represents the host city. As a short term goal, GNCTD has committed
to ensure the delivery of required Games infrastructure, civic infrastructure,
amenities and services including beautification for preparing the city for effective
operations and enjoyable experience during the Games. In addition, the GNCTD
envisages leaving a sustainable legacy for the community in terms of awareness,
participation, enrichment, infrastructure and economic benefits. The GNCTD, for
the purposes of the Games, is represented by :
